U.S. Rep. Jim Himes’ re-election plans had been obvious for months, but now they are official.
The two-term congressman and Cos Cob resident officially accepted the Democratic Party’s endorsement for re-election Monday night in Bridgeport. Mr. Himes turned a traditionally Republican seat blue in 2008 when he defeated longtime incumbent Chris Shays and increased his margin of victory in 2010, bucking the heavily-Republican trend of that cycle.

The smiles said it all earlier today at the Hopkins School baseball field.
With the final out landing in the glove of the Brunswick School center fielder, months of hard work and dedication paid off, as the Bruins beat Hopkins 10-5 to claim the school's second Fairchester Athletic Association championship in four seasons.
"The first feeling that came over to me after we secured the victory was thanking all the people in the Brunswick community that supported the kids and the Brunswick baseball program," Brunswick head coach Johnny Montanez said. "I couldn't be happier for the kids. They started the season waking up at 5:30 and hitting and 6 a.m. and I don't know too many high school kids that would commit to that. They trusted us and I am so happy for them."
